Is Hell fair?

Is a loving God really capable of sending people to hell forever? It is one of the most emotionally charged objections to the Christian faith — and one that demands a serious, honest, and biblically faithful answer.

Join us for this Apologetics Month message as we take on one of the hardest doctrines in all of Scripture: Is Hell Fair? The Defense of Divine Justice.

The Question Every Honest Believer Must Face:

How can a God of love also be a God of eternal judgment? Is hell a relic of a primitive, vengeful theology — or is it an essential expression of divine justice that a truly good God cannot abandon? And if hell is real, is it fair?

What Does Scripture Actually Say About Hell?

The Bible does not speak of hell in vague or metaphorical terms. It speaks with clarity, weight, and sobriety:

• Matthew 25:41 — "Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels." Hell was not designed for humanity — it was prepared for Satan and his angels. What does that tell us about God's original intent?

• 2 Peter 2:4 — Even the angels who sinned were not spared. Divine justice is not selective, partial, or negotiable — it is universal and absolute.

• 2 Thessalonians 1:7-9 — "They will suffer the punishment of eternal destruction, away from the presence of the Lord." Hell is not merely suffering — it is the permanent, chosen separation from the source of all goodness, light, and life.

• Revelation 20:14-15 — The lake of fire and the second death. The final, definitive judgment of all whose names are not found written in the Book of Life.

• Luke 16:19-31 — The rich man and Lazarus. Jesus Himself describes the conscious, irreversible reality of hell — and the great chasm that cannot be crossed.

The Defense of Divine Justice:

Is hell fair? This message builds a careful, compassionate, and biblically grounded case that:

• A truly just God cannot ignore sin without ceasing to be just.

• Hell is not God's revenge — it is the ultimate honoring of human freedom and moral accountability.

• The existence of hell actually strengthens the case for God's goodness rather than undermining it.

• The cross is only as precious as hell is real — the depth of God's love is measured against the severity of what we were rescued from.

The Good News in the Shadow of Judgment:

This message does not end in despair. The same God who is just enough to judge is also merciful enough to provide a way of escape. The cross stands between every soul and the judgment it deserves — and the invitation to receive that grace remains open.
